With the aid of three ancient beasts, Jack travels across treacherous lands to reach a passage in time within a ruined city. The mighty guardian of the passage refuses to allow Jack to pass, telling Jack he is unworthy. He defeats Jack after a fierce battle. Instead of dealing a final deathblow, the guardian lets Jack live, expecting Jack's eventual return when he is worthy.

Jeremy's Review

Paced masterfully taking its time building up to an epic finale, Art Director Dan Krall won an Emmy Award for this episode in 2003. There is solid action and plenty of standard mythological elements throughout. It's one of the most memorable episodes of the series. A+
